We left Bozeman, MT Tuesday morning. Our plan was to explore Spokane. Our friends gave us great ideas of where to go. But as we got to Spokane it was so busy and the traffic was really heavy. We honestly are so much better suited to the slower life. Jay was driving so I let him make the call and he decided to go on to the tricities. But we were told that there was not a hotel room to be found. A clerk at a beautiful Comfort Inn called all around for me. It was interesting because I normally am a person to get very nervous and anxious in those types of situations. This trip is such a meant to be thing and I feel so calm about everything. We looked at the map and towns around. We decided to check motels in Prosser, WA which was 30 mile away. We got a nice room at a Best Western. We are off to have breakfast and explore this beautiful community. It is where the wine industry started in Washington. We noticed as we were driving here that there were vineyards all along the way. The vines were lush and green looking already. They were beautiful. They have a historic downtown. I feel like this will be a great place for us to take a breath and explore this morning.
I will leave everything as I typed it this morning and update on our day. First we found the cherry store. The sales girl was so knowledgeable!! I bought some really fun stuff there. We walked around the historic down town for a while. The stores did not open until 11 but the historic buildings were fun to see. We drove around and followed the Yakima River. There were beautiful fields of grapes growing. We even met a horse and buggy on the road. Then we drove by all of the beautiful wine tasting rooms. We picked the prettiest one and stopped. We sat outside and looked at the atlas and my Grandma’s diary and my Mom’s letter.

We then headed down the highway to the Columbia River. My family talked about how beautiful it was. We did drive on the Washington side until there was a bridge. We crossed and came to The Dalles. My family stayed here with someone they knew. We are not sure who it was. But we decided we would stay here. The first hotel we checked was full but they recommended one for us to check out. I called and got a room based on their recommendation. When we pulled up I wasn’t positive but our room is beautiful and so clean.
We are directly across from the Dam on the Columbia River. Inside the office is a picture of the Dam in 1956. Like Jay said, that would be what they saw when they came through here. We thought that was so cool!!

I feel like I have had several signs that this trip is right where I need to be. I am not sure how much of that to share. But I just have to say I feel like my Mom is watching over me. I have felt things my entire life that are just more than coincidence.
I apologize for any typos. I am doing these on my phone at this point.
Thanks for coming along!!
